Green is the Glue that Holds Strength Together

Look around. Are you inside? Is there a plant within eyesight? Can you smell flowers? Is the aroma sweeping into your nose and tangoing with your soul? Are you home? Are you at work? Do you feel disconnected from the outdoors? If you feel a disconnect, how can you express your love for nature? You can’t and if there are no plants around, you’re wasting an excellent opportunity to be a stronger person.

Rachel Carson, famous biologist and conservationist, wrote, “Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find resources of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.” Author of the monumental classic Silent Spring, Carson helped to popularize the environmental movement, making it more widespread and accessible. Her quote can be considered a slogan for the environmental movement, and a great reason for greener ways of living. Carson is imploring us to admire the earth, to fawn over plants, animals, skies, streams etc. We must surround ourselves with green or, at the very least, think more about it. If not, we will not fully tap into the resources of strength that are all around us. Without the earth, we are weak – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Don’t you want to be stronger?

At Foliage Design Systems in Atlanta, we live by Carson’s quote, which is why we are the premier green interior designers on the market. Interior landscaping has a slew of benefits, including reduced absenteeism, improved building aesthetics, improved indoor environment, increased occupancy and retention, increased retail spending and much, much more. Green breeds strength from top to bottom; it is as simple as that. We work with designers, developers, owners, property managers and office managers to put together a plan of action to include plants in their green design. With our wealth of experience, we can help any building and company find those resources of earth-strength. There is an incomparable bond between our clients and us; the dedication goes both ways. Green is the glue that holds strength together.

galleria-002One of our clients, for instance, is Embassy Suites, an upscale and all-suite hotel located in the Atlanta area. The other day, we received a phone call from the general manager. He was concerned that his technician of 3+ years, one of our workers, had been assigned a different route. This was because a different technician was servicing the hotel that day. We let him know that his normal technician was simply on vacation for a couple of days and that she would return next week. He responded, “Good to hear. I don’t want to lose her. I’ve been a manager in the hotel business for over 12 years and she is by far the best I’ve ever had the experience to work with.”

The general manager could not fathom a work life without one of our dedicated and familiar technicians. It would, you can say, mess up the hotel’s atmosphere. Not having the usual technician performing the routine checkup could possibly weaken the green design strength; those resources of strength might be depleted. That is certainly a cause for concern. Thankfully, all of our technicians are that good, and are able to keep a building’s strength flowing.

Such a story demonstrates the care and dedication that Foliage Design Systems in Atlanta employs when taking on any project. Remember, green is the glue that holds strength together. If you are in the Atlanta area and want to include plants in your green design, give us a call today.
